Default 2 users/one has sound the other doesn't

I do have other even sounds under User 2. However, I did
check the Current User under the Regedit and the data
does say "Value not set". Any other ideas?

Hi,

I have two users set up on my home computer and I

noticed
just recently that one of the programs (Quicken) has
sound on one of the users (User 1)but not on the other
one (User 2.)

First; something to check: are any OTHER "sound

events"
working for this user2 ? I mean like click sounds, menu
sounds, all the little blips, bleeps, and thingys that

you
hear on Usr1 when you click on thingys? NOT music or mp3
files, I mean the "event" in windows?

IF NOT, if user2 has lost those too.. then..

A weird idea... something to "check", okies?

Log on as the user without sound, and then go

into the
registry (regedit) and go look at In HKEY_CURRENT_USER,

the
root of this key, you SHOULD HAVE (Default) and (value

not
set)

Now the weird thingy is this; you will have the
"Default" entry there, but specifically look at

the "data"
column of that entry and make sure it has SPECIFICALLY

the
words; "value not set" - Okies? ANY OTHER value, or EVEN

A
BLANK would NOT be correct.

Now before you DO anything ELSE.. IF the value is
"wrong"; then you need to make sure you know what you're

doing
in that registry. You don't want to change or delete or

do
anything if you don't know how.

BUT.. assuming you are prepared to do this: if

the value
is NOT as I stated; then you can RIGHT CLICK on the word
DEFAULT in the right hand window and a menu will come

up, one
of the menu items is delete; left click on delete to

delete
that ENTRY - Now we are NOT NOT NOT talking about

deleting the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder on the left hand window, we are
talking about the DEFAULT entry in the right hand

window..

As soon as you delete that DEFAULT entry, Windows

will
make it again, with the correct value in it. Almost
immediately. In fact, you can delete it and hit F5 and

find it
right back there.

That is all I can think about for you.

Do that and then go check and see if you don't

have your
event sounds back now.

Have fun!
