Yahoo Infestation
I just bought a new Compaq Presario bundled with Windows XP.
Every window, like "My Computer", "Windows Explorer", etc., has lots of Yahoo stuff, including search for Yahoo buttons and Yahoo logos. I can't get my Microsoft Internet Explorer window anymore. All I get is a Yahoo file window. How can I expunge all this Yahoo stuff from my computer? |

Don;
Check the Yahoo website or check for spywa Check this link: http://www.aumha.org/a/noads.php Run Ad-Aware (free version) or Spybot to check for spywa http://www.lavasoft.de/ (Update if you already have it) Or http://spybot.eon.net.au/ (Update if you already have it) -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] An easier way to read newsgroup messages: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p...oups/setup.asp Please respond to newsgroup only for everyone's benefit. Another thing to check with Yahoo is that they have set everyone's email, mail and telephone marketing
preferences to "Yes" for everything. i.e., you're opted 'in' for marketing contacts as the default setting. Here's how to change that; - Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups - click on Account Info (upper right) - log in with your Yahoo account/password - in mid-page, click on "Edit your marketing preferences" Check out all the stuff they've set as "YES" options. Change everything to NO and be sure to click on the SAVE CHANGES box at bottom to save these settings. HTH ... Make sure you check your add/remove programs. Most likely all of the yahoo
stuff has uninstall files. "Don McGrath" wrote in message ... I just bought a new Compaq Presario bundled with Windows XP. Hi Don,
Since Yahoo! is not spyware, your best bet would be to check from Add/Remove programs. Most probably you can uninstall all Yahoo! programs from there. -- All the best, Anando -------------------- My e-mail address is intentionally incorrect to avoid SPAM.
