Default changing desktop font colour

Hi,
Is there a way in Windows XP to change the colour of the
font which is being used for your desktop icons.
I have looked through out the apperance settings but
there's no selection for the desktop icons font colour,
or to turn off the shadows also.
An exmaple to my problem is.
My desktop image is white where i have my icons, the
default colour to the desktop icon fonts is white, with
shadow, which is realy hard to read.
Is there a way to change this?
