Default monitor won't shut off (attn: Suz McClure)

The laptop HAS NOT SHUTDOWN.. XP has shutdown Windows but
because of
mainboard nuances is unable to power down the machine..
Power to a laptop
display will only terminate when power to the main system
is cut off.. hence
hold the button down for 5 secs..

display will terminate when windows shuts down if the
settings are right. i used to have windows 98SE on this
laptop, and whenever you shut it down, it shut off the
monitor as well. ever since i updated it to xp it hasn't
been powering it down on shutdown. so what the heck kind
of point are you trying to make? can anyone else tell me
what setting i need to change in order for my laptop
monitor to shut off when i shutdown windows?
