Default Blank screen after logging in - HELP!

I don't know if this might work; but maybe you could go
through safe mode into device manager (right click "my
computer"/ properties/hardware) and then uninstall your
current driver; then reboot to let your computer redetect
hardware and assign a driver with better resolution.
-----Original Message-----
While attempting to troubleshoot a problem where my
display resolution was dropped to 640*480, 4-bit after
loggin in, I (really dumb, this) logged off without
resetting the resolution / color depth to something
reasonable.

I got that sinking feeling when I saw the "Saving your
settings" message,

Now when I log in, I just get a totally blank screen.

I can log in in safe mode, but that won't let me change
the display properties, and I can't figure where XP hides
them.

Anyone got any ideas?
