Default problem uninstalling a program

Running XP PRO -
From control panel, add/remove programs I am unable to
remove a program (ATI Control Panel). This has come about
while trying to install a newer ATI 9500 video card. I get
an error stating " Error extracting support files"
followed by "The file name, directory name or syntax is
incorrect"

Can't seem to find where this might exist so I can remove
or correct it.

Have you reinstalled it prior to uninstalling that app? Just a thought.

Isaac.
