Recovery CD
I have been advised by my Laptop manufacturer that I should use the Windows
XP recovery CD to reinstall the operating system. Could anyone please tell me if this is a straight forward process and any difficulties that I may incur. The problem is getting the Bluetooth to operate. |

Tipical dumb, tech support advise...don't take it If you use the recovery CD all your data will be erased, so it's not a good idea. Not only that, the way to get Bluetooth working is not likely going to be solved by reinstalling your OS. If you post back with the *exact* problem you have, with all the details I am sure someone can give you pointers. Important to note if your Bluetooth ever worked or is this a new problem |

Thanks Philo
I used to have bluetooth working ok. I could switch on the switch on the front of the laptop (Asus)and then use the Fn + F2 buttons to change between Bluetooth and or Wi Fi. The switch seems to have stopped working because the green light for the Wi Fi stays on, but after having said that when I switch off I do loose the Wi Fi signal. Regards the bluetooth this has stopped working. I have uninstalled the Toshiba bluetooth stack and I have tried to reinstall from the cd which came with the laptop. I am unable to reinstall because the driver will not load due to the bluetooth not being switched on. How can I switch the bluetooth on??? Any help would be appreciated. The first thing I'd do is perform a system restore and set the machine back to a date where you knew it was working. If you don't know how to perform a system restore it's ocvered in Windows help Or Google for instructions |

Well I don't have any more ideas all I can tell you is that if you use your factory restore CD all the data on your machine will be over-written so be sure to back it up first |
