Microsoft's file attribute remover utility
Had some trouble copying MP3s from Windows to my tablet, for email
notification sounds. So I used Microsoft's file attribute remover utility, and voilą, no more problem. I wonder why Microsoft includes that utility in Windows. |

Permissions might be handled by Takeown, icacls, xcacls, and so on. Utilities you find on the Sysinternals page, originated from when Sysinternals was an independent company. Microsoft bought them, and the utilities are now served from a technet page. The objective of the Sysinternals staff, was to make useful utilities to cover "holes" not covered by things Microsoft offered. Microsoft has made some utilities of its own, but generally the delivery mechanism is quite irregular, and involves jumping through hoops. Like, try and find a copy of devcon64 or a copy of UVCView today... Paul |

Properties Details Remove Properties and Personal Information What that removes is things like EXIF metadata, rather than attributes or permissions. That would be handy for multimedia material which have come from a fancy digital camera or photos shot with a smartphone. Where there is plenty of stuff they could throw into the metadata section (like your GPS coordinates when the picture was taken). Paul |

Perhaps I should've used "properties" instead of "attributes" but my post made clear what I was talking about. And it did what I said. So obviously it's not just removing GPS coordinates. |
