I went into the action center for the update history, then went to to Control panels. http://i66.tinypic.com/1zx7iu9.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/s3k9y9.jpg Robert So you report symptoms (windows indicating a percentage of something done) and yet there is no entry in the Windows Update corresponding to the failure ? I know, I noticed that too. I wish there was
a way of taking a screenshot when it's doing things and says do not turn the computer off. I forgot to tell you that when booting up it had stopped at the Windows Boot Manager and required me to hit enter. Then just now the desktop came up OK but the icons were white for approx 30 seconds before filling. Robert |

I can have an OS here, where it takes a minute to a minute and a half before the networking stack starts running. Sometimes this is related to a .NET update and the Windows Firewall is written in .NET. NGEN has to run and compile assemblies or some sort of story like that, before the networking stack can run. The networking status doesn't go green, until Microsoft contacts a simple web server of theirs, one that returns very little data and the returned packet proves that networking is operational. The firewall seems to block that. Paul |

Robert FWIW, Robert, I've had reasonable success in taking a photograph of my computer screen with my camera and, in more recent times, with my iPhone camera. Actually, I never thought of doing that! Thanks, Robert Robert, I/we have no idea of who or what you are responding to, since it's never in here. Isn't there a way in your newsreader client to reply to the message and retain their content? There should be some way to do that, but I'm not sure what newsreader client you are using, and maybe somebody else can chip in here with some suggestions. |
