As I see this, you are using Windows as a hobby so why don't you just do
it and then **** off from here. Any sensible person will tell you that
there isn't much you can do on that crap with just 50GB of HD and
because of your joblessness, you are not in a position to buy a new
machine or to upgrade your HD. I think you are just waiting for a good
opportunity to steal a machine from some where so that you can continue
trolling these newsgroups.

Windows is not the operating system for you. Why don't you just install
Linux that is used by top 500 supercomputers in this world so that you
can brag about it when you next get a chance to talk with your neighbours.

You forgot to cross-post your useless crap to these newsgroups where
there are more trolls like you:

I have a generic version of Windows 7 but would need drivers probably.

You realize support for W7 will end on January14 2020?

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4057281/windows-7-support-will-end-on-january-14-2020

And do you realize that that won't actually make Windows 7 unusable,
just like it hasn't made Windows XP unusable. It's "end of support from
MS", not the (really wrong) "end of life".

If you want to use it (7) on the web, getting the Firefox browser is a
good idea. It provides better security updates.
