How to disable Windows Defender

How can I disable Windows Defender? I don't want to use it because whenever
I click allow or to replace something it removed it refuses to do so. I'm
done with it.

Can anyone recommend a good free anti-virus program that does what you tell
it to do regarding allowing what it considers a virus/malware but isn't?

That's not Windows Defender.

You're talking about the basic permissions model being
used by the OS. The file system is NTFS, not FAT32.
It has permissions up the wazoo.

This is not Windows 98, never will be.

And that's the curse of modern OSes, the
"computer science degree" requirement.
The web page may say "1GB RAM, 3GHz CPU",
but what they don't mention is "and a
CS degree does not hurt".

Normally, the IT department would help you out
of a bind, but that isn't a practical answer
for home users.

In this case, Defender doesn't actually get in
the way. It just wastes cycles. UAC puts up dialog
boxes, but they don't really stop you either. However,
the file system permissions model *will* stop you.
Program Files is owned by Trusted Installer. Different
folders are using different accounts.

To explain every possible aspect of Permissions,
takes a small book. The explanation is that lengthy,
and the convenience tools... aren't convenient either.
Any tool that "helps with permissions", just
displays all the permissions and then says
"what would you like to do?". And that's really no help
at all. There's no "get out of my way" button :-/ Sorry.

Use a Virtual Machine program like ToolWiz's Freeze Time (freebie) and
you won't have all those nonsense problems caused by the present day
AVs and "Internet Security" programs.

I'm not techie enough for that. Any idea how to remove or disable Windows
Defender?

It says it's Windows Defender. I want to get rid of it. How do I get the
damn WD software off my 2 LTs? There is no way to make it return or release
something it claims is a visus. I don't need this aggravation. There is

Besides removing things from my computer and not allowing me to have them
back, it allowed Seguarazo to infest one of my LTs. It didn't even see it.
I had to install Malwarebytes to get rid of the damn malware. Is there
anyway to remove Windows Defender so it can't keep removing non-viruses but
ignore the real ones?

Take a look at Winero Tweaker, It has an Option strangely enough called,
Remove Windows Defender.
I have never tried that option so can't tell you if it does what you want.

You need to hire somebody who is a techie. How about hiring an Indian
Technician who can come to you and fix all your problems. They will
charge for the call-out.

Why don't you use something that doesn't require Anti-Virus products?

nstall another AV product and that will/should disable wD. Uninstalling
the AV will enable WD again.

I am on that site still looking at what it all does. It does tell you how
to shut it off temporarily buy says it turns itself back on. I'll keep

Since I had Win10 Pro, I could use Option 6 here.
In Win10 1903, I had trouble with Option 1, so went
with Option 6 instead. I judge the success of the operation
by how much CPU is wasted. MsMpEng continues to run,
so it really doesn't "stop" as such - it's just
"less of a pig" when you do this.

can't put up with that, and switching off RealTime protection

too slow for words, and the only viable option there
is to turn off WD. This is also (partly) a fault of

Some parts of the Windows 10 security model, require the
computer to "fast crash" in microseconds, if an exploit
is under way. This covers cases where a jiggler is triggered
(an unexpected activity the OS interprets as malware), and
the assumption is, no AV could react fast enough to stop it.
So crashing the computer (killing the kernel), is the
next best option. Basically, a dirty shutdown. That's the
most extreme protection available, and I don't think that is
ever switched off. Just as CSRSS stopping, causes the OS to shut
down in 60 seconds (a more controlled shutdown). There are two
services which are critical to the OS running, and if the
OS senses that they've died, the OS shuts down in response.

So while I see "controls" in this OS, I am under no illusion
that the controls are absolute, and the detections are still
operational. It's wasteful signature scans that stop (a portion
of the defense system).
