While downloading a file, internet could fail. I don't know if we need

Still doesn't explain your status, internet fails on me too now and
then, I just restart the download. But I have good bandwidth.
Do you have slow DSL, poor reliability, Modem even?
....

Usually I don't make downloads but sometimes I use internet to watch videos
and listen radio online. I need more than 1 Mbps to be happy.

The feature packs site is a site for:
- upgrading Windows 8.1 Core to Windows 8 Pro with Media Pack
or
- upgrading Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 8 Pro with Media Pack

qp
If you were running Windows 8.1, your PC will restart automatically
and Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center will be available for use.

If you were running Windows 8.1 Pro, your PC will restart automatically
and Windows Media Center will be available for use.

The 8.1 download from the MSFT Store will resume if interrupted

You don't have much choices (and most likely the same for the next two
years when the mandatory upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 is required). 2 years
at any bandwidth should be sufficient time to accomplish the task since
the 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade from the MSFT Store will resume if interrupted.

As far as Microsoft is concerned your choices are
- upgrade from the MSFT Store
or
- purchase full version media and use it to upgrade by running the
full version 8.1 setup.exe file on the full version media from within
Windows 8.0. The full version media can not upgrade 8.0 to 8.1 by
booting the DVD - booting from the media will only provide a clean install.

Windows 8.1 upgrade from 8.0 is free and available in Win8.0 via
signing on with a MSFT Account and accessing the Microsoft Store. The
Store is a tile on the Modern UI Start Screen UI.

Windows 8.1 is not available (nor will it be) in upgrade media form
from the MSFT Store/website or retail outlets. The only version being
sold are the full version editions of Windows 8 Core, Windows 8
Professional. Retail versions of Core and Pro contain both 32 and
64 bit DVD's. OEM/System Builder versions only contain one - 32 or 64
bit. If purchasing the latter ensure the correct bitness is
purchased.

All pc's using Win8.0 have until the fall of 2015 to upgrade to 8.1.
All support for 8.0 (program and security updates) will cease approx.
2 yrs after the release date of 8.1.

Win8.1 System Requirements
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...m-requirements

If using Win 8.0-64-bit ensure the hardware meets the 64 bit
requirement.
"To install a 64-bit OS on a 64-bit PC, your processor needs to
support CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF/SAHF"

Most 8.0 built pcs do...some older units that were upgraded from an
earlier o/s to 8.0 may not meet 8.1 requirements thus cannot install
8.1. Unless something changes those units incapable of upgrading to
8.1 will have to be replaced with hardware meeting system
requirements to run Win8.1 or later.

Now you have me worried. I have a DVD sized box that says Windows
8.1 Pro on the outside of the box. Inside the box are 2 disks,
one for 32 bit and one for 64 bit versions of the OS. I bought
them online understanding it is the full Windows 8.1 Pro OS. Do
you think they are something else?

Please disregard the above. It's what comes from pulling an all
nighter.

Sorry,
