Is 2823324 safe now?
I note that update 2823324 was installed on my machine
in a recent mass update. Is it safe now, or do I need to uninstall it again? Thanks. |

Is 2823324 safe now?
How do I know if I've got it and what's the problem with it?

Kenny Cargill http://www.davescomputertips.com/wp-...l-update-1.jpg http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2839011 Kaspersky has already patched their issue with the update. The Brazilian banking software, probably wasn't fixed quite as fast, but mainly affected Brazilian users. If you haven't had problems up to now, it means you did not have a complicating factor present. If you didn't have Kaspersky, maybe you would not see a problem. Paul |

The replacement would have overridden anything 2823324 did. I guess you could uninstall, but think of the millions that don't know what we do and still have it. KenW If you're not seeing a problem just let MS fix it. |

Thanks to all who responded. As to how I knew I had it, I accept automatic updating and received a message, unusual for me in that normally the updating happens and I don't even realize it, offering a list of all the updates. 2823324 was in the (long) list. |

I did have a Startup problem recently with "winload.exe missing or corrupt",
this seemed to fix itself after reboot and no problem since. Don't know if this update had anything to do with it but have now uninstalled it anyway. Kenny "Kenny Cargill" wrote in message ... If previously installed and removed...the 'fixed' same version update will be offered via Windows Update. Depending upon your WU configuration, it will be installed automatically, downloaded with a prompt to install, or prompt to download and install. If not previously installed and now offered by WU during last update 'Tuesday' [May 13th] the version being offered is the fixed version. i.e. Install it -- ....winston msft mvp consumer apps |

I never installed 2823324 because of the problems people were having. However, I did install 2840149, the supposedly fixed update, and it crashed my system. I uninstalled it to recover, so whatever they were trying to do, will just go unprotected or whatever on my system. bj |
