Q: What is a modern day free solution to create website clickable PDFs?
Q: What is a modern day free solution to create website clickable PDFs?
Details sufficient to understand before answering the difficult question. What's the current status of PDF'ing an entire web site (multiple levels deep) to a CLICKABLE single-document PDF (emphasis on PDF-based links!)? I just downloaded & tested a duplicate finder recommended by Shadow: http://www.pcbanter.net/showpost.php?p=3777263&postcount=11 (In addition to https://www.digitalvolcano.co.uk & CCleaner dup cleaners.) The need for the pdf log is that you aren't using the canonical site: http://www.wisecleaner.com We're using a non-canonical site, which we need to archive safely: https://www.techno360.in/wise-duplicate-finder-pro-windows-free Which supplies a non-canonical executable with non-canonical conditions: http://downloads.wisecleaner.com/giveaways/WDFSetup_softwaregiveaway.exe Whenever we are forced to get the freeware from a non-canonical site, I generally save the top two or three levels of the web site to a multi-page "clickable" PDF for archival log purposes. Clickable means, for this purpose, that all the links are saved (given a set of pre-set conditions as to how deeply they're saved) as a PDF. I repeat. Clickable does not mean, for this purpose, that the link brings up a web browser; clickable means the link brings up another page in the same PDF file (which can be thousands of pages long as a result - but generally, the conditions are set in the PDF-creation software to only be a half dozen to about a dozen PDF pages, in general). Having explained what a clickable PDF is, I generally use my old licensed copy of Adobe Acrobat (mine is version 6) where I use the finger-memory command Control+Shift+O to create a multi-page clickable PDF. This control shift O asks for the web page URL and then saves every link as a page within the resulting multi-page PDF. These links stay within the PDF file, and do NOT go outside that PDF file as that's what a "clickable PDF" is. The problem is that my licensed Adobe Acrobat 6 is about a decade old, and, as such, Adobe Acrobat 6 doesn't really render this web page all that well. A simple Microsoft Windows "Print to PDF" renders the page fine, but it's not even close in functionality to what a clickable PDF is. So I just now saved both, where... o The clickable PDF is fully functional - but it's not visually useful, o While the print-to-PDF is visibly useful - but completely non functional. The links, if not literally archived into the PDF, are worthless as this PDF is meant to be a log that needs to withstand time. Given that as the background, and hoping people understand what functionality I'm asking about, the question is simple: Q: What is a modern day free solution to create website clickable PDFs? |
