Default VCR to Movie Maker

I have my VCR hooked up using analog cables; I have use a Sony 'Click to DVD' program and it takes video from the VCR just fine. When I try to import vide from the VCR into Movie Maker, it doesn't seem to recognize the VCR! Any ideas?

You should be captureing form whatever you use to capture your video. You
say the sonny thing captures video fine, just capture from that not from the
vcr.

I tried that too. Movie Maker imports the MPEG files, but they only have audio (the screen is all black). Is there a particular file type I should import them as?

Can you capture to AVI....?
How many inputs does your capture device have...? And have you told your
program which input to use for Video...? You have to tell it what input to
use of your capture device. Like if you had 3 vcr hooked up, you would have
to tell the software which video to capture from.

I am capturing from a single VCR. In the pop-up screen for selecting the capture device, only my webcam shows up (nothing for the vcr). I have the VCR hooked up using Audio/video cables directly from the VCR to the computer. Movie Maker just seems to not
want to recoginize the VCR...
