Default Network Adapter Missing

Hi:

I have a friend who started not being able to connect to the internet.
Research revealed his Network Adapter is missing from Device Manager. XP
Home Edition.

Does anyone know what has caused this and a cure?

Thanks,

ColTom2

Maybe a hardware failure caused it. Could be the adapter is toast. Try
forcing Windows to re-detect all hardware. If it's a PCI device, try
moving it to a different slot. If USB, try a different USB port. If
it's built into the motherboard, try re-installing the chipset drivers.

"Network Adapter Missing" Paste this into the search box (upper rhs)

=======

That would be okay if everyone, esp OP, was using the same form of access as
you are....
