You might even have used a third-party tool to modify power schema. Like an overclocking tool or something. If you're concerned about side effects, you can turn on and set a System Restore point, which will save a copy of the Registry for you. Alternately, make a backup of C: . It all depends on whether you know for sure the Power schema have never been set by anything else, as to whether you should be modifying it (to the defaults). The toms guide post also mentions restoring your hibernation setting, as appropriate. powercfg /h off . powercfg /h on. And os on. Paul |

You might even have used a third-party tool to modify power schema. Like an overclocking tool or something. This is a new laptop. It's pretty virgin. I've made a few registry mods like turning off Cortana and removing the lock screen etc but nothing serious or likely to have anything to do with this. The toms guide post also mentions restoring your hibernation setting, as appropriate. powercfg /h off . powercfg /h on. Tried that. Same result. A nervous mouse is really not that big a deal. I just hate the machine getting the better of me... My bigger problem is after the 1809 update my brightness control became intermittent. It works fine for days and then quits. A reboot will restore it. My current strategy is to wait and see if the mfg will update the driver. |
