Is this Windows MCE SP2?

What method did you use to add time update permission to your limited
user account?

Does your unlimited user account work as desired?

There is a time synchronization Help and Support feature - is that
what you mean?

Do you mean the whole Internet Time tab is greyed out and accessible,
the Update Now button is greyed out, etc.

Unable to visualize with the information provided so far.

Using local security settings, I added Change System Time to the
limited user.

I will just pretend you are talking about XP Pro SP3.

Limited user accounts cannot change the time.

If you adjust the Local Security Policy and add that Limited user to
the Change the system time policy, they can change the time, but the
Internet Time tab of the Data and Time Properties dialog box are
unavailable (greyed out).

That is they way it works, but I believe there are some third party
programs to mimic the XP Internet Settings sync function so you could
install one of them and give your limited user the ability to run it
and it includes a time sync option. XP won't let you, but this other
program might.

Never tried it and can't experiment right now, but here is one I read
about from a Google search:

http://www.filebuzz.com/fileinfo/318...Time_Sync.html

The account is called Limited for a reason.

Default Time update as a limited user not working

I have been trying to find an answer to this for weeks. As Jose said, I
think MS wants to make our lives difficult and that is just how it is, I
mean really, why can't we let a user update the stinking clock? Because
MS says so!

However, I have found a way around MS and their fascist storm-troopers!
I assume that your user has all the time-related permissions and that it
can set the "Date and Time", so I will not cover that part.

1. Log on as an administrator and make sure the admin user has a
password (step 5 will NOT work if the admin user has no password)
2. Open a text file editor (e.g. Notepad)
3. Type (without quotes): "w32tm /resync"
4. Save as a .bat file (e.g. c:\TimeResync.bat)
5. If you want the clock to update every day at a specific time, use
Control Panel to add a task (Scheduled Tasks) and run the .bat file at
the time you want, but be sure to run as the admin user with password
(for example, I run TimeResync.bat everyday at 5:00 am)

If you want the limited user to MANUALLY resync the clock:
1. Log off the admin user and log on as the limited user
2. Create a new shortcut on your desktop, pointing to the .bat file (if
you want, drag it to the taskbar)
3. When you want to update the time, double-click the desktop shortcut
or click the taskbar icon
