Default Completely Removed Messenger

Hi,

I was having this wait/hourglass come up every 2 minutes next to my cursor. I got fed up with it. I removed every instance of Messenger from my computer including removing and deleting the folder out of Program Files. Am I toast? Please advise.

Greetings,

If you really want to get ride of MSN Messenger follow the steps below:

1st Way:

1) Start Control Panel Add/Remove Programs

2) As soon as the "Add/Remove Programs" window appears, click on Add/Remove
Windows Components (at the side).

3) Once the "Windows Components Wizard" window appears, scroll down to the
end and you'll "Windows Messenger" ticked. You just have to untick it and
just press next. You're Done!

It would take a few seconds in uninstalling Windows Messenger, so no need to
worry if your computer hangs.

2nd Way:

If you're in a hurry and don't like following the steps above, just
following these short steps:

1) Start Run

2) Type in "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove" (Without the quotes)

Thanks and Good Luck!

Greetings David,

You may experience some problems with Remote Assistance and any other application that
attempts to load Messenger (although in most cases, the application will just take longer to
load or to react initially, then you can simply turn off the Messenger functionality).
Windows itself will be fine.

Hi,

Did you actually read the users' post?

Plus, these are to remove Windows Messenger 4.7, not MSN Messenger and the "1st way" isn't an
uninstallation at all, it just removes the shortcuts.

Thanks Jonathan,

Appreciate your concise answer. I think I will reinstall Messenger and then re-read how to turn it off. I thought I was losing my mind with it. I thought for a time that it was ghost in the machine - I just couldn't stop the darn wait/hourglass popping up
every 2 minutes. Anyway, it's done.

By the way, I have encountered another tricky little issue. If you get the chance could you read my question in Help and Support from the 12th: "Shortcut Problem Misunderstood . . ." Maybe you have an answer for this one. Thanks again.
