"Access Denied" Driving me nuts
Again, try disabling firewall.
then doing the update. if it works you need to reset the 'run dll as an app' in the system properties of your firewall and then you can reenable it. Doesnt seem like the problem but it might be. -----Original Message----- Hello, I can not do two things: 1. Install SP1 for XP-Pro 2. Install a print driver - HP All-in-One With problem 1, I get an access is denied dialog box after the down load has completed. It will go all the way through the install and the very last step, it fails with "Access Denied" and deletes the install to where I began. I have logged on as an administrator and my local ID and I have the appropriate security that is needed to do an install of this type. I also have a fully licensed copy of XP-Pro (no boot leg here). Another tid bit of info here, I have logged on as an Admin in safe mode and tried to install it from the desktop. Still no luck, "Access Denied". With Problem 2, I also get an access denied dialog box. It tells me that the install can not continue because, "Access Denied". No other info is available. However, when I tried to install the print driver as an Administrator, the print driver software did a system scan and it came back with a dialog box that says, The necessary Privileges do not meet the install minimum requirements". However, if I log on as me (local Admin), I do not get that dialog scan results box. But after all of the steps of the install completes, I get a small dialog box that says, "Access Denied" and it reverts back the changes made to the system... I am very perplexed and frustrated here... Is there anyone out there that can help me? . |
