Default Lan Printer

Xref: kermit microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web:195304

I have recently begun using my personal notebook with XPp
Home at my work. We have a LAN through which I am able to
connect to our DSL and get mail and the web, but I cannot
seem to get the network printer to work.

We have numerous Macs that have a DCHP(?) connection set
up that seems to find the IP address of the printer, but
the printer set up wizard on xp does not seem to give me
any option to find or specify the IP address. When I run
the trouble shooter, it never even seems to care.

ANY HINTS?

ANY HINTS?

1. On the "Local or Network Printer" screen, select "Local printer
attached to this computer", and un-check "Automatically detect my Plug
and Play printer".

2. Click Next.

3. On the "Select a Printer Port" screen, click "Create a new type of
port", and choose "Standard TCP/IP Port".

4. Click Next twice.

5. Enter the printer's name or IP address.

6. Follow the rest of the prompts.

For more information, run Help and Support and search for the topic
"Add a standard TCP/IP port".
