Messenger is popping up everytime I open my email, but it
is not in my Add/Remove programs list to uninstall?
Where in the heck is it, and how do I remove it?
Thank you.

Greetings Heather,

By "opening e-mail" do you mean Outlook Express? If so, simply close Outlook Express, then
download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...ssenger_oe.reg

Jonathan,
I tried this fix; a side effect is that "Messenger Contacts Online"
disappears from the Contacts pane in OE. Can I reverse this FIX?

Hi Jonathan,
It's a pity that there's this trade-off when stopping Windows Messenger
because the opening of OE is slowed because Messenger is loaded before OE
(even when Messenger is set to not log in).

Hi Derek,

Could you define "slow" -- it really shouldn't be *that* slow.

Hi Jonathan,
That's a difficult question (similar to "How long is a piece of string?").
I can say that if the patch you supplied is implemented then OE opens much
quicker.
Without the patch it takes 8 seconds for OE to open when it has to load
Messenger, whereas when the Messenger icon is pre-loaded in the Systems Tray
OE opens
in one second.
The problem is annoying rather than catastrophic.
Derek
