User Name?
I have inherited a machine with XP SP3 on it, and it is full of stuff
I want to get rid of - which I have. But there is a single user with name 'Bart' that I want to get rid of - want to change 'Bart' to 'Me'. Changing the user name under ControlPanelUsers was easy. But I would like to change foldername 'Bart' under c:\Documents and Settings to 'Me' also - if only to clean things up nicely. Seemed simple, maybe not? How can I do that? Thanks Big Fred |

Could one set up a new user with the desired name, and then before deleting the old one, copy all of the old personalized user directories over to the new one? The idea being that it would be equivalent to changing the user name whilst preserving all the user customized settings and data from the previous user account, which might be desireable. |

Probably doable but likely far too tedious to only get what you want and not bring along the other baggage, which (for me anyway) would be the biggest reason to create a new user in the first place. -- Zaphod "Yeah. If you're "inheriting" a system which is already set up AND is in pretty good shape (with a few good apps already preinstalled), it might be worth "keeping". And especially for the case where you buy a used computer which doesn't come with any windows installation disk - then you'd have no choice. Of course, you could just leave the user name as it is, but that could be pretty annoying! |

It come with windows installation disk It is on D:/ But you all Always Format all Hard Drive When all you need to Format C why do you thank they call D a Recovery disk Because in it is the installation disk |
