Bob, it may well be hardware problems such as overheating, PSU etc.

Default Crash

Does this at a certain time? Running a particular task? After an operator
action? Is it random? Any "dialogue" messages" warnings" etc?

Spyware, viruses, overheating, not blowing out your cpu fansink, case
fans, etc.

Thank you for the responses guys, grumpy uncle, you appear to be doing
everything that you can to live up to it "reputation", to those of you that
offered suggestions / help, thank you. I was unaware that the problem could
be caused by hardware, thank you for the possibility of redirecting the
cause. As far a virus, spyware,…., I run OneCare, Ad-Aware and SpyBot
everything day so I believe that my system is protected but “who knows” for
sure? The only other observations that I can think of is that the Crashes /
Freezes usually occur when I use Mozilla and I have noticed that Windows will
advise me that it is shutting down the browser every now and then (that’s why
I thought that it was a software issue). One last thing. I am using a Dell
system that is about 3 years old, with 1Gig RAM and WindowsXp Professional
and the only new HW or SW that I have installed in the past few months
(besides “normal” software updates) is Photoshop Elements. Any “needle in
the haystack” help that you can offer would be appreciated. Bob
