Default Gets stuck at "Preparing to Standby"

When I close the lid on my laptop without shutting down, sometimes the system
will not restart when I open it again. Instead, it gets stuck at "preparing
to standby" and I have to remove the battery pack to restart the system.
Microsoft indicates this can happen if you have Nero CD burning system, but I
don't. Can anyone help?

Have you tried holding the off/on button down for more than 5 seconds?
You shouldn't need to remove the battery!
I used to get this problem until the maker replaced the VGA card. I'm
still testing but it is better now. I do use Nero but I've not heard
that this is a problem. Do you have link I can look at?

Try getting the latest driver for your video card from the manufacturer's
web site.
