microsoft, you guys must be afraid to tackle the tough
questions.

this has sat around for a month with NO replies. WHERE IS
THE WEB SUPPORT!?

Listen up folks: the only way to get support from
microsoft is to pay $245 an incident. The only way to get
DECENT support from microsoft is to purchase MILLIONS of
dollars in support, which they screw you for.

Linux linux here I come. Why should I bother? Hell, they
can't answer because they don't know the answer. there's
so many holes in their OS it's all they can do to keep the
big things patched with duct tape and chicken wire.

I challenge you web support lackies - stop drinking your
free soda and jerking around in redmond or dallas or
wherever, and get thinking on this. I shouldn't have to
wait a month, I shouldn't have to format and reinstall and
CALL YOU FOR ANOTHER AUTH CODE SO I CAN INSTALL SOFTWARE
I'VE ALREADY PAID FOR again and again and again. it's
absurd.

Strange, baffling and NEW problem: winxp pro SP1, all
current updates.

When downloading through HTTP, FTP, peer to peer (kazaa

or
gnucleus), streaming, you name it, downloads halt.
Browsing the web is fine (large imagery and flash files
will halt tho), email is fine as long as it's not
containing 1mb attatchments; this came on suddenly,

with
no changes or system modifications; has the dsl guys
stratching their noggins (not much of a stretch, I

know).
Usually, whether it's a zip or .mov or avi or WHATEVER,
it'll get about half way downloaded. Then stop. Not
*FAIL*, but stop. if I let it sit for 5 hours, it'll
fail, but I suspect that's the server side just throwing
up it's hands and walking off.

Tested on ISO files, avi, mov, zip, etc.. doubt it's a
file thing. I have 12gb free on my main drive, about

30gb
across the rest of the system.

I've tried to step backwards to various restore points
(both pre and post SP1)- no good. I've tried

uninstalling
and reinstalling the ethernet drivers. Nope. I've also
tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE and opera; the
TCP/IP connection. About the only thing I haven't tried
is re-installing windows; I can't find any KB articles
related to this, but really, the KB can be hard to search
sometimes, so I may be missing something big, but I don't
know what. I'm EXTREMELY loath to reinstall XP as we use
engineering software that's a b*tchrod to reconfigure.

Come on Ken Wickes! Show me the light!
