Windows Showing USB Mass Storage Driver That Is Not There
A few weeks ago, I settled in front of the PC to watch a streaming
movie. I had left a USB mass storage device plugged into the PC. All of a sudden I got a blue screen. After removing the device and rebooting and restoring, I got the situation taken care of and could use the PC. But, now every time I boot up, Windows detects new hardware in the USB mass storage device. I go into Safely Remove Hardware and undo it. I have even plugged it in, done the Safely Remove Hardware, and then removed it. I also go into the Device Manager and uninstall it. Unfortunately, it keeps coming back. Just now I did a boot disk scan and got the blue screen of death again. I was able to reboot properly again, but the Windows is still detecting the device. I have tried shutting down, removing all peripherals and rebooting. It happens each time. Thanks for any help. |
