Default Installing new drivers

I have Windows xp, IE 8. I have had my computer for 5 years & never
installed new drivers. How important is it to update drivers? My system is
working fine.

Thanks,

If your system is working fine, and all your hardware is fine, then there is
no real need for driver updating. If you need a newer driver, the device or
OS will certainly let you know ;-)

It's not.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

If there is nothing extra you need from a newer driver, if you are having no
issues, etc - don't mess with a good thing.

Yes, the new drivers are written all the time for a particular reason, but
may not have anything to do with your present setup. Therefore, no need to
install it :-)

You say, "microsoft doesn[']t employ 100s of software techs who do nothing
but update software"; are you sure?

You say, "same goes with drivers, they dont improve it for nothing"; I ask
you "What?"

Most of the drivers that you use on your Windows operating system were not
written by Microsoft, but by the actual hardware device manufacturer. So -
on many levels, your answer makes no sense. Not that I would be totally
surprised, but...

In any case - better to leave well enough alone when it comes to drivers.
