disconnecting
I keep getting disconnected and when trying to reconnect I get an
"error 633 unable to connect" On the second try it will connect ok. The same day this started I began getting a pop-up saying "c:\windows\_P9HE~1.exe illegal instruction log hard error event ID 26" Untill a few days ago I've had no problems at all. Scanned with norton and webroot, norton did find a dialer threat and quarantined it but found no virus. I'm a newbie on the PC, can you point me in the right direction? emachine windows xp home sp2. While searching for the memory I did find physical 512 and available 178 but not sure if that is right and unable to find it again. |

Hey grumpy,
= For the error 633 google is your best friend. = Regarding the dialer threat that norton found i figure it still exists on your system. you may want to try out another antivirus or online scan. Here's a link to the free version of Antivir www.free-av.com Download this and install it on your computer. Restart your computer in safe mode and do a full system scan. Once that is done reboot your system as you normally would and then try connecting to the internet. If you would prefer an online scan to a software download try house call. Here's the link to it http://us.trendmicro-europe.com/housecall/v6.5/?us=2 Note: It takes quite a long time to run this scan. So if you are on a dialup or a slow connection or do not want to spend too much time on the internet just download the program listed above from its website and do it that way. Personally i prefer doing it this way for two reasons: 1I run the scan in safe mode so that the minimum stuff is loaded which helps me in further diagnosis. 2A bit more secure being not connected to the internet. =Now for the third thing you wanted to know how much RAM was installed in your system. The easiest way to do this is to right click on my computer and choose properties. To see more detailed information as to how much is currently available just open task manager and on the performance tab you should have the physical memory available. Do tell me if this helps yogi " wrote: I keep getting disconnected and when trying to reconnect I get an "error 633 unable to connect" On the second try it will connect ok. gdjmopmd.exe and hmimmpmd.exe threats are still there. I'll run the antivir and see what happens. Thanks! |

Scanned with Antivir, found and deleted tr/dialer.ay.6. along with 5
other java threats. Everything seems ok now, just hoping it stays that way. Thank You for your help! |

hey grumpy,
great to hear that it worked. now keep your antivirus updated always. BTW if you want you can even uninstall norton. This will have a two way effect: 1You already have another virus scanner so having another one for the same purpose will just create problems and solve none. 2A significant increase in performance If you like the program buy it and help the programmers who built this awesome tool in the first place. This will further help them improve it. Have a wonderful New Year Take Care yogi " wrote: Scanned with Antivir, found and deleted tr/dialer.ay.6. along with 5 other java threats. My Norton is up for renewal in January, think I will dump it and look
into a subscription to Antivir. Thanks again. |
