"more details". What Operating System are you running (Windows XP is assumed - Home, Professional, Media Center, TabletPC, x64 is *not*.)? What patch level (SP2 at least?) How did you get to this point? What have you tried? When you did safe mode - did you log in (try to) as the username "administrator"? If XP Professional - what happens when you press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the welcome screen and enter 'administrator' as the username? -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

If you can't run anything on the machine and don't have the skills to work around that - and I'm not saying this to hurt your feelings, just being practical - you have two choices: 1. Take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local version of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. Have all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop. Data can still be retrieved even if you can't boot into Windows so ask the shop to do this for you. 2. If you don't want to take the machine to a professional, back up your data from outside Windows if necessary and do a clean install. http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html - Clean Install How-To http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...alling_Windows - What you will need on-hand Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!"
