Default BAT Files Not Showing in Recent Documents List

I'm running XP Pro SP3 and the BAT files I run/edit do not appear in
the recent documents lists. Is there any way to get them to appear,
which I think would be beneficial.

I found an application file on Kelly's Korner that's labeled 'add run
programs to recent documents,' but I'm not sure that will do what I
want and there is no further explanation.

Thank you for any assistance.
