Default BACKGROUNDS HELP!!!

Hey,

So I tried to copy a shortcut to my desktop, then all of
a sudden it said that it didn't work, and my background
on my desktop changed to one that I have never used, and
the color behind the application icons were blue
(originally there is no color at all behind them).
Anyways, it looks like they are all selected now when
really they aren't. I have gone into the desktop
properties. It gives me the option to change the color,
which I can, but there is no option for "no color". How
do I get rid of that color in the background?? I'm
working with XP Professional. I know with my Windows 98,
I had background colors on the applications, but I know
that with XP they have improved it so that there can be
no color at all. It looks like all of the applications
are selected when they aren't. It looks like a whole
bunch of blue blocks on my desktop. I have tried re-
applying default styles but they won't go away. There is
no option for having no color in the properties.. I need
to get rid of them. HELP!!!

That sounds awfully like your desktop is locked. Right click in an empty
space on the desktop and untick "Lock web items on Desktop"

Hey,

So I tried to copy a shortcut to my desktop, then

all
of
a sudden it said that it didn't work, and my

background
on my desktop changed to one that I have never

used,
and
the color behind the application icons were blue
(originally there is no color at all behind them).
Anyways, it looks like they are all selected now

when
really they aren't. I have gone into the desktop
properties. It gives me the option to change the

color,
which I can, but there is no option for "no color".

How
do I get rid of that color in the background?? I'm
working with XP Professional. I know with my

Windows
98,
I had background colors on the applications, but I

know
that with XP they have improved it so that there

can be
no color at all. It looks like all of the

applications
are selected when they aren't. It looks like a whole
bunch of blue blocks on my desktop. I have tried re-
applying default styles but they won't go away.

There
is
no option for having no color in the properties.. I

need
to get rid of them. HELP!!!

Go to Control Panel/System/Advanced Tab. In the

Performance section, click
the Settings Button. Click the Visual Effects Tab and

scroll down to the
bottom of that list. Select the "Use drop shadows for

icon labels on the
desktop" option.
