= Start | Run | (type or copy/paste) wscui.cpl | OK
Does the above open Security Center? If so, what status is reported for (1) firewall, (2) Automatic Updates, and (3) anti-virus? Is this sudden, new behavior? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Windows Neophyte wrote: The Security Center icon no longer appears in Control Panet. wscui does open the Security Center and it shows the firewall off and the
automatic updates and virus protection on. When I try to enable the Windows firewall in the security center it says it can't do it. This is a new issue. Yesterday I was on the computer and a security warning cqame up saying the firewall was off. It asked if I wanted to enable it and I responded yes. That is when everything started. Appreciate your help. Windows Neophyte "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: = Start | Run | (type or copy/paste) wscui.cpl | OK Does the above open Security Center? There's a very strong possibility that the problem is due to a hijackware
infection. 1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually: http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma...e/default.mspx 2. Run this online scan (in safe mode w/networking, if need be): http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm 3. Run additional checks for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log to an appropriate forum.
