A Nero 7Windows XP Sofware Question
I received my computer in February of this year with Windows XP SP2 (now
upgraded to SP3) and Nero 7 Premium loaded on it in support of the DVD/CD drive. I now want to remove Nero 7 Premium from my computer and use Nero 7 Essentials as its replacement. I attempted to take this action with the following results: I, through the Add/Remove process, removed Nero 7 Premium from my system. Subsequent to this action, I found many references to Nero in my registry. I then decided to remove anything that had a reference to Nero from the registry. This appeared to work without any problems...that is until I attempted to load Nero 7 Essentials on my system. I can't remember what the reason was, but I could not load this software on my system. Being concerned that I had probably done something wrong in the registry, I decided to reload a very recent Casper backup of my C drive back onto my system. The backup process worked without any problems, and I am now back to where I was before doing the Add/Remove process...Nero 7 Premium once again works as it did before I started this process. I considered loading Nero 9 on the system, however, the reviews I read about this package are not very encouraging. Also, I am mainly interested (for now) in having a capability of making CDs of data files that reside on my computer (e.g., such things as Casper startup CDs and photo CDs). That is why I think I would be better off without all of the other programs that install as a part of Nero. The thing that started this whole process was my attempt to update Nero 7, and I was unable to make this process work. Here are my questions: Is Nero (7 or 8 or 9) worth having on my system? If so, which version which version would you recommend? Can you recommend a good Nero "Clean Up" program...one that will totally remove this software (if that is possible) from my system? Can you recommend a better software package than Nero for what I am attempting to do? I realize that Nero is not a part of Windows, but it does impact on the registry of Windows. Thus, that is why I decided to ask here for help. Please advise if I should go elsewhere with this message. Frog |

A Nero 7Windows XP Sofware Question
for the most part windows
has some device drivers for your device. but the real power that you can derive from the device is dependent on the proprietary software that runs it. for example, if you have a light scribing device which embosses the cd with images, a windows driver may initiate the process of reading and writing data to the cd/dvd, but windows cannot initiate the specialty feature of disk embossing. therefore i think that the answer you need is dependent on the cd and or dvd device you have. thus you should ask the manufacturer for the device you have "or" lookup their faq's. -- db·´¯`·...¸)))º DatabaseBen, Retired Professional - Systems Analyst - Database Developer - Accountancy - Veteran of the Armed Forces "Frog" wrote in message ... There is a Nero uninstall tool. Do a Google search for "Nero 7
