Is W8 set up to autoplay an optical disk?
Yes, it does on my machine, but I'm using a USB ODD (blueray/dvd/cd)

I was asking the OP. If he has disabled his W8 autoplay, it could
explain his problem. Your autoplay has no bearing on the issue.

We are shooting in the dark, however, since he gives no hint as to what
the exact problem is and how he got there.

E.g. Did he fail to install autorun pro on W8? Is the program installed
on W8, but produces autoplay disks that don't autoplay anywhere? Are the
autoplay disks he made on his XP or W7 unable to autoplay on W8? Are
there other problems I haven't thought of yet?

My take is that he has a programme which makes an auto boot CD, but this
programme will not run on W8 OS.

It would seem that its nothing to do with his setup of W8.

So why go on with all the crap?

Because you might be wrong, difficult as it might be to believe that.

PLONK

And *that* speaks for itself...

Wow, I can't believe he plonked *you* of all people! In the words of
the immortal bard "Now that right there is funny, I don't care who you
are!"

Some people take themselves so seriously and cannot abide levity when
it's applied to their precious thoughts.
Plonking people publicly is pretty vulgar.

Actually, I rarely plonk anyone, although racism, extreme vulgarity,
etc, can lead me to a *private* plonkage[1]. Usually I mark the poster
as read, instead of deleting his/her posts.

The milder stuff is often interesting to follow, so why plonk it?

[1] Or is the correct term "plonkification"? My spell checker rejects
the verb and both nouns, so I am unsure :-)

Likewise, except for nasty flame wars or really bad trolling by idiots.

This'll do me. Five syllables must be more important than two.

Thanks - although IMO, I can deserve plonking on occasion, I didn't
think this was such an occasion :-)

That immortal bard, are you referring to Bard Simpson?

or Larry the cable guy..
