You'll never know what you are missing. Windows 8 is here and all
future operating system will be based on windows 8. Either you keep up
with it or regret it when it becomes too late for you to remain
employable. World is moving fast these days.

Of course you don't. Nobody runs the release version of Windows 8.1
unless maybe you're well-connected to Microsoft.

If you're like me, you try out the Previews, just to
see what's going on. That puts you in a better position
to decide whether the thing is an absolute bust or not.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...eview-download

The license key lasts until Jan.15.

The availability of the Preview for download, may stop as
soon as Win 8.1 is "released".

So if you have any interest, or even if you don't, download
the Preview now. In the event you don't like it, you can
use that DVD as a means to boot to a Command Prompt when you
need it.

My shortest test interval, for a Preview installation, was
ten minutes. This Preview got more test time.

1) Task Manager does not give absolute control like it did
in say WinXP. In WinXP, a 3D game might prevent you from
recovering the system. In Win 8 or 8.1, just an ordinary
program could use so much system resource, that Task Manager
stops responding.

2) On screen BSODs are now useless. You'll have to work much
harder to get diagnostic information.

The first one is pretty important, for a day to day OS. And that's
a reason Win8 cannot become my primary OS. I regularly use
and rely on Task Manager in WinXP, to handle issues for me.

Propably I'll never get one copy. The operating system I'm using came with
the machine without recovery dvd. I guess if something bad happens I'll be
in serious trouble, so I must take care.

How can you and what you say be trusted?

For example the company (Tax Group Ltd) you list on your
mytaxsite.co.uk website doesnt exist at companies house, the archives
on mytaxsite.co.uk suggests posts which go back to July 2010, yet your
domain name whois data says the domain name was only registered in
25-Feb-2012 and the Wayback machine only shows activity since early
2012 as well. http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://mytaxsite.co.uk

All in all, you dont look very genuine and I would never underestimate
the under hand tactics MS employs to gain market dominance one way or
another.

Plus what you have said above can apply equally to Linux, Apple or
Android OS's.

How many of you use vista?
How many of you use win7?
Where do you think those os are going?

I have used winxp a m2n-sli deluxe mb the internet was crap
put win7 on it and the internet was usable!

And people still say winxp was the best!

Watch this and learn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&f...&v=fVNHX1Hrr6w
Bruce even states in this vid its all XP, although the event log was
changes in Vista+

Backwards compatability means the underlying technology doesnt change.

When MS say apps are no longer backward compatible then windows is
really moving forward, until then its just mainly cosmetic changes in
the main, with some SU/SUDO/UAC & Event log API changes.

Ya that video was in 2011. Is it relervant now?
Can you install winxp on 2013 hardware?

Or if you have old winxp hardware install win7 and tell me
which runs better?

My ex has my old hardware amd athlon x2 6400 which is winxp compatiable and
she uses a 3 dongle the internet was crap. So i put win7 on it and with the
same dongle the internet is good. Go figure that!

And there were no instructions included with the purchase of that
pre-built computer to tell you how to burn the recovery CDs? There is
no boot-time hotkey to go into a hidden partition to run their
recovery manager from there?

Now that is funny!!! By the time our work stations are upgraded (XP) I
will be retired! Also since you probably do not work for Microsoft then
how do you know this? Future op systems might be based on windows 10 for
all you know right?

The machine came with a basic instructions paper where there is no mention
related to burning recovery dvd's. In older days that was an illegal
operation and things didn't work quite well.
I can see under the main menu, definitions, pc personalization, an option to
recover the system and another option to boot from a pen drive, dvd or
other. But where I live there is no complete windows 8 dvd for sale, only
the upgrade version. That means I would have to buy an older version of
windows, install it, and buy the windows 8 upgrade version to update. I've
search on local stores for a windows 8 complete version but couldn't find
it. I like very much this new system and don't want to change it because I'm
afraid of surprises. I think the salesman told me to hit F8 (can't remember
very well) in case of any emergency.

Thanks, things are running stable for now, while the product exists, think I
can count on you.
