Default Skype in Windows 9.1 is not working

Is SKYPE working well in Windows 8.1 ?
Recently only I'm getting information that;
"Skype has stopped working" - but there is no
solution available yet . (???)
Has anyone have any advice in this case?

TIA and All the best for 2014 !

I'm not sure which Skype you are using, but there are two versions.
There is the version made for the new interface of Windows which I would
avoid like the plague, or there is the desktop version which is the same
as what you would find on earlier versions of Windows.

If you're relying on the one which comes with the operating system, the
Windows 8-specific version, I would suggest uninstalling it and
downloading the desktop version which has more features and probably
won't be as cryptic about errors 'Skype has stopped working - but there
is no solution available yet' is generally the most meaningless error
message a human being can get.

I can't tell you anything about your problem, but I can tell you that
Skype works fine in Windows 8.1. I used it as recently as yesterday.

I agree. I did not know this at first, but I got pretty fed with
starting the Skype "tile". It kept asking to create a microsoft.com
account. Later, I installed Skype myself and realized this was called
"Skype on desktop" or something. NO m$ account needed!

8.1 Windows Store Skype app ?

If so see

I have a similar case. On my laptop HP with Win 8.1 Skype works fine but
on my desktop with Asus P5B I started to have some "intrusion" problems,
where a lot of "servers" wanted to "access" my Skype - and when asked
to give a permission - I have blocked it several times. The next I've had
receive
this message the Skype stopped working. I wonder whether this had to do
with the other matter.

Default Skype in Windows 9.1 is not working

The Syrian Electronic Army hacked Skype's account on Twitter to inform the
world that Microsoft's services are monitoring us and selling our private
data to governments. The reality is that every proprietary communications
service whether from Microsoft, Google or Facebook does this and is turning
us into their products in exchange for using their 'free' services. A lot of
people don't care, some of us used to and others are doing whatever they can
to put an end to it by becoming as anonymous as possible on the Internet
through Tor.

Tell yourself that if you have a Facebook account which uses your real name,
you shouldn't feel bothered by this in the slightest. If you nevertheless
do, delete (don't disable) your Facebook account, use aliases online from
now on and demand an end to surveillance from your government.

Thank you for your help.
I've installed Skype for Windows 8.1 desktop and laptop.
It works on laptop but it doesn't work with desktop version
in the last few days. I just uninstalled SKYPE and will try
to reinstall it again. Thanks !

I do not understand the thrill with Skype... It is junk! and has always
been junk! There are much better free programs that are more consistent
as well as I know at least one that allows up to 6 simultaneous video
conversations and even more (12) for a small price. I use it and have
for a long time.. Never a problem with it.

I don't recall anyone claiming being thrilled with Skype or for what
it's worth much of anything in this forum.

Gene's humor probably provides the most thrills on an ongoing basis.

If you care to tell us what you use/used for a long time, we might be
thrilled too.
