Maybe it's a little later to announce this tool
Maybe you all already know, still, it's new to me. I don't know if it brings
bugs to system. I hope not and I hope MS understands the need of third party start menu on Windows 8x system. I've downloaded Classic Shell, written by Ivo Beltchev. I would give 100 points to this utility. In my opinion, it is very useful for Windows 8x. Now my system is little bit more classic. The site is: http://www.classicshell.net/ |

I've said this here before, but since you apparently haven't seen it, I'll say it again: I think Classic Shell is very good, but Start8 is even better. True, Start8 isn't free, but it's very inexpensive--only $4.99. It comes with a 30-day free trial. Give it a try and see what you think. |

And there is another StartIsBack http://www.startisback.com/ Also as Ken said, it's not free but comes with a trial. All three of these work, and all 3 feel and work just ever so different. It's a personal preference thing. |

I use Classic Shell in Windows 7 to fix that bug Explorer has where it keeps scrolling the list of folders down as one selects them. I also use it to make the folder tree look like Xp (so I get my little +'s and folder-level vertical lines in the folder pane). I agree that Start8's menu is more Windows-8 looking, but since I hate that flat look, I'm not a big fan of Start8... Best Regards, -- ! _\|/_ Sylvain / ! All I suggest is that Classic Shell users give Start8 a try, and see which they prefer. Almost everyone I know who has tried both prefers Start8. |

The site is: http://www.classicshell.net/ I'm about two months into my experience with a Dell XPS8700 running 8.1. I let it boot into the Metro UI, then a single click on a single tile takes me to the desktop without installing anything else. No problems whatsoever and no need for anything extra. Metro is just another part of the overall experience...mostly a waste for me but sometimes it is useful. Certainly nothing to worry and fret over. GrtArtiste |

I don't even need a single click. Rod. |
