Need more eadable screens
I know these old eyes are bad, but I should be able to read W10
displays easier. I have tried to use what I find in settings, but I still need darker texts. Any way? I think a simple bold would do. Thanx xxxxx |

Any way? I think a simple bold would do. Thanx xxxxx In the Settings, you could look for High Contrast themes. Could be in Personalize of the like. If you haven't played with themes, that's where I might start, just for fun. "Yes, these are ugly :-) " https://i.postimg.cc/XJxCnSG3/theme1.gif https://i.postimg.cc/VNg6C9YW/theme2.gif Playing around with fonts isn't likely to achieve much. And there aren't enough adjustments in the OS to make up with poor choices for colors for things (which might affect contrast). Like, if colors aren't "saturated", it can reduce contrast in tricky situations. Or, just using the "Dark" switch might be enough. Some people like "light" backgrounds, others like "dark" backgrounds. And there are controls you can play with in the Settings for this. This is not an ideal situation. And there isn't a lot of "hidden" capability or Easter Eggs in there either. ******* For font feathering, there was Cleartype https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClearType Cleartype featured several ways to "orient" the feathering. Different people have different eye wiring, and as a consequence, while X percent of people like the default arrangement, some people are violently opposed. And some are extra sensitive to things like Zebra stripes. Never underestimate how people perceive things, because you'd be surprised how much variation there is. On Win10, they decided to go with something else. grayscale anti-aliasing effect This will give some idea how much effect it can have. There's a couple pictures here, one with more contrast than the other. https://github.com/RocketChat/Rocket...ron/issues/294 Paul |

Since you did not identify which settings you tried, expect duplication from respondents. Try changing the DPI setting. https://www.pcworld.com/article/2953...tor-setup.html |

Advanced System Font Changer is a free utility that has a few options you can try by using different fonts and font properties to the following items: Title bar, Menu, Message box, Palette title, Icon, and Tooltips. For starters I would suggest changing only the font for ICON. The instructions for this a 1. Download and install Advanced System Font Changer. 2. Left click Advanced System Font Changer. Note the settings for "ICON". (I chose ICON because this should give you an immediate visual effect of the change listed below after you re-boot your PC). 3. Left click ICON and the properties will be displayed in a new panel labeled "Font". The Font, Font style, and Size will be highlighted and you can use the slider bars to select the items of your choice. (I would recommend the choices listed below under ICON. You can change these at a later time if you wish.) Click APPLY. Log Off then restart your PC On my PC I have set the fonts and their properties as follows: TITLE BAR Font: Arial Font size: 11 pt Font weight: Bold Italic MENU Font: Segoe UI Font size: 11 pt Font weight: Bold MESSAGE BOX Font: Times New Roman Font size: 11 pt Font weight: Bold PALETTE TITLE Font: Segoe UI Font size: 11 pt Font weight: Bold ICON Font: Microsoft Sans Serif Font size: 9 pt Font weight: Bold TOOLTIPS Font: Segoe UI Font size: 11 pt Font weight: Bold GOOD LUCK! Good show, +++ Everyone with below par vision should have this one, I use it all the time, it Really helps and is easy to use. Rene |

Rene I spend too much time on this NG, plan to leave it, then an excellent tip like the above shows up... That capability (those font settings), used to be in the OS itself. But got removed a few releases back. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/advan...m-font-changer Here is a web page with a picture from those heady days. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-m...ger-windows-10 Appearance and Personalization : Change Size of Items Change only the Text Size https://www.windowscentral.com/sites...?itok=P_IMrNWw Paul |
