Default How send icon for application to system tray?

I've set the file association for WAV files to execute this action:
sndrec32.exe /embedding /Play "%L" /Close
which plays the WAV without showing a window for SNDREC32.

The problem is that some WAV take a lomg time to finish and then I
have to use Task Manager to terminate SNDREC32.

I would like to tweak my system so when I launch a WAV file it makes
SNDREC32 play it (without showing a window, as before). But this
time an icon for SNDREC32 appears in the system tray/notification
area.

How do I get an application to show an icon there?

I want to use a different player than Winamp but I still need to get
the icon into the system tray as soon as I ask it to play a WAV.
