'Intel(R) Proset wired' error message/Problem
Hi
I was just clicking around in my Control Panel to see what things were when I encountered 1 'error' messages that hopefully someone maybe able to help with. When clicking on the icon - 'Intel(R) PROset wired' - I get " Failed to load one of the network components ". On clicking 'ok' it takes me into Intel(R) Proset for wired connections. But there is nothing in the 'Elements in this folder' window. Any thoughts would be appreciated Thanks Geoff

Sorry, me again. As soon as I clicked 'Post' I thought I should have put the
following in case it helps. Thanks nass for advice, however under Device Manager there is no Intel(R)
Proset Wired. There are other 'Intel(R)'s under eg: device adaptors, IDE ATA/ATAPI controlers, Network adaptors, Processors, System Devices and USB controllers. All of these are followed by numbers except for Network contollers which is the closest match with Intel(R) PRO 100/ve network connection. So can not find the card you mention. Hi Geoff, Yes, on Device Manager under Network Adapters: Intel(R)' LAN/WAN 10/100 Right click this and see if there is any conflict or IRQ. You can remove and Reboot and windows will install it for you. Does this machine on the Internet and connecting okay?. Is there is any hardware installed recently?. Firstly, thanks for your reply & also sorry for taking a bit of time to get back - on the road with work. There were no conflicts showing with the adaptors. I have, as suggested, uninstalled the 'intel(R) lan 10/100 and rebooted. windows then installed. Dbl clicked on it again in control panel and same message came up - failed to toad one of the network components. No, no new hardware, internet connects ok (adsl2+) although seems to go like dial at times. I'm doing a scan of the pc awaiting any reply to see if there is a gremlin.
