Default 'Creative Disk Detector' of the Sound Card does not work

When I plug in my portable USB cd drive (which is a DVD R/W 4.7 Gig drive)
to my PC, the sound card 'Disk Detector' icon vanishes from the Task Bar Notification Area,
and I am not able to play audio CDs, but I can still read/write to the CDs in my PC.
As I unplug the USB cd drive cable, the 'Disk Detector' re-appears. This phenomenon
is happening to all of my PCs, since I have the same Creative Labs PCI sound cards in
all of them.

Does anyone know what is the relation between the USB port and the
Creative Lab Sound Card 'Disk Detector' ? How do I fix this ?

Appreciate help.

Okie Noah
