Display Driver blamed for Lock-Ups
ERROR message sent to Microsoft always insists that an ATI Technologies,
Updated Display Driver, needs to be installed, which I have done - and still have frequent/chronic Locking-Up. That's why my 1st post was only Subject as my machine Locked-Up. Event Viewer System Error Category Event ID 102 1003 Description: Error code 000000ea. parameter1 83062020, parameter2 83450720, parameter3 83623f60, parameter4 00000001 I would tremenously appreciate an answer to this Locking-Up as I've tried everything I can think of and have spent at least a hundred hours on this issue and think I'll just forget about internet access altogether as this is too time consuming. I'm spent and exhausted with this Issue. Jean |

Whose driver are you installing? Something from Micrsooft or ATIs driver? It
is always in your best interest to only download and install hardware drievrs from that manufacturer, not from Microsoft. What type, model, etc of video card are you updating? Display Driver blamed for Lock-Ups
Yes, I downloaded newest Updated driver from mfg. (compaq) HP site.
Most confusing Terminology for the Driver and I wish someone is able to explain the following to me as I simply thought I had just ONE Display Driver. Period. But when I searched my machine I found 2 items and several different descriptions for the 2 items. Display Properties lists the following: IGP 340M as Driver & as Adapter Type Display Properties lists - Chip Type as ATI RS200M System Information lists - Adapter Type as ATI RS200M All a ball of confusion to me, unless someone can make sense of those 2 items. Again, I thought I only had the ONE Driver which is IGP 340M. Anyway, to add to the mix is the new Updated Driver and combo Control Panel referred to - ATI dvr04 v8.003.0 sp27665. Which, I later Un-Installed as it did not stop the Locking-Up. I also Un-Installed the - ATI RS200M driver & control Panel. So, now all you see in Add/Remove Programs is only IGP 340M. Can someone please help me understand this all. If you can? Thanks a lot, Jean "Jerry" wrote: Whose driver are you installing? Something from Micrsooft or ATIs driver? All you ever need is the driver. You don't need that control panel and HP
usually lets the user opt to install it or not when you are installing the driver. Do a system restore by going to back to the period before you installed the new driver. Then start over this time only installing the driver. Now go back into system properties to see what is listed in there. If the adapter and chip type items are still there--and they probably will be--it is because you need them, so leave them alone. "biermanoski" wrote in message ...
