XP Home edition and Office 97 Pro.
Hello Dennis,
The shop is full of ****. Office 97 installs -- and runs -- just fine on XP Home. Alan "Dennis Hohl" wrote in message ... I recently was running Windows 2000. I loaded all the windows updates when prompted. Suddenly I was not able to access my cd drives and floppy drive. Error message that came up said " invalid function" and then the drive letter that I tried to access. Repair shop said to scrap 2000 and go to XP Home. They did not know at the time I was using Ofice 97. Got the CPU back with XP running fine, and loaded all my usual software including Office 97. Again no cd-or floppy drive access. Called shop back and they freaked out because I was using Office 97 on a XP Home Operating system. Said that was the real problem. Can any one confirm this and offer any ideas to fix it short of me formatting my whole drive again? Thanks |

I would give the repair shop a call and suggest that they refund your money,
format and reinstall XP for you and then go to hell. Office 97 installs just fine on XP, remember to get the SR1 patch, about 25 megabytes worth, if you have the original version of Office 97. They are feeding you a line of ****. "Dennis Hohl" wrote in message ... I recently was running Windows 2000. I loaded all the windows updates when prompted.
