Don't need Windows Messenger
I don't think I'm doing anything that I need Windows Messenger for.
I went into the msconfig file and unchecked the box. That seems like an easier thing to do and to undo than going into the system registry. Is there anything that's going to be loaded if I just uncheck the Windows Messaging item in the Startup tab of the msconfig file? |

Don't need Windows Messenger
Greetings Margaret,
MSConfig will not work as it simply disables, not removes the entry and Messenger will load anyway. Instead, just double-click the Messenger icon running in the notification area, choose Tools, then Options, then the General tab and uncheck the startup option at the top there. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Margaret Bartley" wrote in message ... Don't need Windows Messenger
Thank you - I've never opened it up. Didn't even know it had a user
interface! I clicked to close it, and got an alert that there are other applications using it - possible Outloook, Outlook Expresss, and IE. Will those apps still work if Messenger is not running?
