Default theme font and size changer

Since Thunderbirds update to Ver 60.0 my Theme font and size changer has
stopped working and I am having a heck of a time reading their small
font, I have tried reinstalling it but to no Avail, it shows enabled in
extensions but will not show up in tools nd at top right where it used
to be.
Any Ideas really apprecited on this necessary tool for me.

Thanks to all.

Thunderbird got passed from Mozilla (who will no longer support it other
than for security updates) to the Thunderbird Project community. As
others have stated, releases from 60+ for TB will be as ESR release
levels.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozill...rbird#Releases

Scroll the table to the right to see the last release was some 52.x
version. However, according to an article below, there have been later
releases (after 52 and before 60).

While the Thunderbird Project notes they will continue supporting legacy
(XUL/COM) extensions for awhile, the last article below says they are
working on moving to WebExtensions. When that happens, it won't be long
thereafter until the legacy extensions are blocked.

https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/th.../releasenotes/
- WebExtension themes are now enabled in Thunderbird
- IMPORTANT: Add-ons not marked as compatible with Thunderbird 60 by
their authors will be disabled (this can be reverted via preference
extensions.strictCompatibility).

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/Add-ons_Guide_57
So apparently there has been releases after 52.x.

Looks like the extension you were using will have to wait until its
author gets around to making some changes to his code and release a new
version - and have to do it again when the TB Project moves to
WebExtensions.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1198307
Apparently the author got out a new version of his extension but hasn't
gotten it available in the add-ons store at Mozilla, or the one he got
there is broken. Someone named Zenos in that forum thread uploaded a
version to his Dropbox account, but I can't tell you where he got it. I
didn't see any logs or blog at the author's web site noting what has
happened before and now for his add-on (https://barisderin.com/?p=286).

Is changing the monitor's DPI setting in Windows something you cannot
tolerate in other apps? That is, if you want fonts larger in Tbird,
might you not also want larger fonts in other applications?

Thanks Vanguard, after reading your post I did some more experimenting
and digging and some how ended up a a different download page, it had 2
versions so I installed both and lo and behold I have 2 showing in my
extensions page, one is version 64.1 and the other is 64.4 done by
someone with handle Bzzz, that is the one that seems to work.
I will try and find that page again tomorrow as I did not bookmark it.

When I went to https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/ (yep,
the TB add-ons have already been moved over the thunderbird.net domain)
and searched on "theme font" (without picking a category, just do a
search from the home page), there were 2 entries that looked relevant in
the drop-down results list that appears as you type in the search bar,
which we

Theme Font & Size Changer for Thunderbird
https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US...hanger-for-tb/
That's v64.1 by Baris Derin and says TB 3.0b4 to 60 are supported.

Theme Font & Size Changer (fixed)
https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US...changer-fixed/
That's v64.4 by Bzzz and says TB 58.0 to 60.0 are supported.

You mentioned Bzzz and I think that's the author mentioned in the forum
thread to which I linked to earlier. He started by providing a download
from his Dropbox account since it probably took awhile to show up at the
TB add-ons site. If you click on the "View other versions" link, only 2
versions are shown:

v64.4 dated 12-Aug-2018
v64.3 dated 13-Apr-2018

So Bzzz jumped right to version 64.3 for his first version. You can
find more info at the author's web site at:

https://www.wanhunglo.com/2018/theme...thunderbird-e6

He's claiming the original add-on had a built-in 30-day expiration from
when the author built the add-on, not from when you installed it into
Firefox. There's no mention of an expiration at the original (Derin's)
add-on page at addons.thunderbird.net, and Derin's web site has no
information about an expiration. I'm not sure how long Derin's original
add-on has been around. When I view its revision history at the
addons.thunderbird.net page, there's only 2 versions, and the first one
is v62.0 dated 14-Nov-2017 which doesn't seem that long ago considering
I recall users mentioning this one for longer. Some comments at Derin's
site are dated back in 2012 about this add-on, so I don't know why
addons.thunderbird.net only lists the last 2 latest versions. Those 2
versions are less than 3 months apart, so maybe was re-releasing his
add-on at less than 3-month intervals to make sure TB users were getting
whatever was his latest version whether it had any changes or not (other
than changing the Unix datestamp for when he compiled the add-on).

https://www.rossde.com/ThemeFontSize...ire/index.html

Looks like David Ross, who I've seen posting here in Usenet (if that's
him), also did a mod to the original add-on to get rid of the
expiration.

Reinstalling the same version won't change the compile date put into the
add-on along with its 90-day expiration trigger, and why reinstalling
the same version add-on would fail the same way. Going to an older
version increased the probability of being outside the 90-day
expiration. If Derin was releasing at just under 90-day intervals, it
would be a near guarantee that installing an older version would already
be expired when you installed it.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1428440#c7

Someone opened a bug ticket against the add-on noting its failure (which
was determined to be a hardcoded expiration). Apparently Mozilla's
license allows add-on authors to auto-expire their add-ons, so they fail
without warning. Oh, what a nice guy is Derin ... NOT! He does all
that work and then makes his add-on have a heart attack if he decides to
abandon his add-on because he won't be updating it at 90-day intervals.

Wonder if Derin uses add-ons in Firefox authored by others? If so,
maybe we could get those other authors to put in an auto-expiration just
for Derin, so he can get a taste of his own medicine.

Teach you a trick:

Tools - Options - General - Config Editor - Accept Risk

Now type "perpx" in the Search box.

Adjust the value of "layout.css.devPixelsPerPx" in small amount to see
the changes!
