Default Process Monitor Boot Log Fails

Win XP Pro.

Enabled BootLog in sysinternals Process Monitor.

It generated a bunch of data that it then converted to a bunch of
BootLog.PML files.

But they are unreadable by Process Monitor.

Is there anything else that I can use to do a boot long ?

I need to find out why booting is NOW so slow.
It used to be quick.

See what's in your startup and what services are running.
XP ?
CodeStuff Starter.

I have slightly different symptoms.

I don't think the most recent version of Process Monitor
runs on WinXP. So I used an older version (I have older versions
on disk here).

It seems to install "procmon23.dll", with Hidden attribute.
I think I detected it, by doing a content search on the INF
folder and found a reference to procmon there.

My system reboots... and no trace at all is generated. Nothing.
Process Monitor doesn't ask me if I want to save something,
if I want to convert something, or anything.

If I test a clean virtual machine in VirtualBox, the program
works as advertised.

I don't know what to make of your symptoms... or of mine.
My WinXP needs to be reinstalled. As I have other symptoms
that don't make sense (the recent SMBv1 patch breaks
file shares, a problem not reproduced by other WinXP users,
and it only shows up on my install here).

And yes, I've scanned for malware.

Paul
