Default Can't import video from home DVD to Windows Movie Maker

Ok, first off, I am quite computer illiterate. So, that

said, what I am trying to do is edit a home movie on my
computer using Windows Movie Maker 2. It was filmed in
8mm, then a friend burned it onto a DVD for me so that I
could put it on my computer. Well, being the idiot that I
am, I cannot seem to open the video in Windows Movie
Maker. I can play the footage in Windows Media Player,
but I have no idea how to import it to Movie Maker. I
would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

I'm not sure what format the file is in, mpg or avi or if it's converted to
a playable DVD, but try copying the file to your computer and then import
the file (if it's a single file you're trying to import).
