Default XP and HP printers

Everytime I get a windows upgrade, I lose connection with my (very old but
still supported) HP printer. I just downloaded an HP drive update, but I'm
still not printing. Can anyone help? Thanks!

*Every* time you get a Windows update? Which was the last update to
cause this?
How have you fixed it in the past?
Which printer?
How is it connected?
What error message, if any, did you get?
Where did you get the driver from? Did you install it? Did that cause
any errors? If so, what error messages?
