Default Ntldr

I have an Acer Aspire 5600,windows xp pro/.Can not open windows, I get the following message. NTLDR missing, press any key to start...When I press key nothing happens..This computer was a hand me down, so I don't have a start up disk.How do I recover without disk?

The file NTLDR is required (in the root folder of the boot drive) to
start WinXP. You can copy it over after booting from a CD or USB
drive (if your BIOS enables this.) If you get a good boot, you might
as well copy to C:/ everything in the root folder of your boot drive.
